One of my resolutions for 2018 was to travel more frequently, no matter how long or short the trip would be. As I am currently writing this, I am in Sacramento at a conference. Although this is a professional conference, I thought I’d take a break from the work to relax a bit and give you a couple of tips and my picks on the makeup that should be in your traveling bag.
Now, I have to confess. I used to be that girl that would overpack and try to bring my whole makeup collection (not really) but you get what I mean. I was pretty excessive! This behavior was suddenly corrected once I went on a trip and my luggage was stolen and all of my makeup was thrown away! It’s a crazy story I’ll have to tell you sometime. Talk about a lesson learned!
Anyway, after having to repurchase so many replacements, I learned its best to travel extremely light, when it comes to your makeup so that you can 1) save space, and 2) cut down on the time it may take you to get ready before going out, which also creates more time to enjoy your trip! So let’s get into it!
To start off, make sure you have a great makeup bag/case. This is essential to keep everything organized and to ensure if you have any products such as foundations, etc from spilling onto the other items in your luggage! Next, read on for a list of the makeup items you will need, for an everyday face, night out, and other activities.
A multi-purpose brush set (I personally love the ItsMyRayeRaye Brush set)
Your go-to foundation (Fenty ProFilter Foundation is my perfect shade and works great for my combination skin type)
Primer (The ProFilter Primer works amazing!)
Eyebrow Pencil, Pomade, or Powder (This NYX brow pencil is great for quickly filling in my brows)
Mascara (If I don’t feel like wearing falsies, this gives me the same effect without the hassle)
Essential Eyeshadow Palette (Bring one that you can use for day and nighttime looks) (I’ve been loving the ItsMyRayeRaye Palette)
Setting Powder (The Cover FX Setting Powder is great for keeping skin matte)
Highlighter (The Fenty Beauty Matchstix in Rum has been my favorite lately)
*Optional: A highlight and Contour Powder (Once again, the ItsMyRayeRaye Palette is great since it includes both!)
Those are my picks for the makeup essentials you need while traveling. Remember, you want to have more time to enjoy your trip so keep it simple! If you have other essentials that are necessary for you, let me know in the comments!
